Shopping, eating and supporting local has become more important than ever, for so many reasons. With the convenience of online shopping and box store chains opening in every new district, supporting your fellow Calgarians now requires you to shop intentionally. We know it can feel a little daunting and time-consuming if you don’t know where to go or which businesses offer what you’re looking for. That’s why farmers’ markets are the best of all worlds!
Originally known for supplying neighbourhoods with fresh fruits and vegetables (which they still do!), farmers’ markets are now hotspots for artisanal goods, homemade treats, handmade masterpieces, and so much more. They can be your one-stop-shop for running weekly errands, as well as your opportunity to support Calgary and Alberta farmers, artisans and business owners.
That’s why we’ve compiled a list of 8 Calgary farmers’ markets to shop and support local at — including pop-up and permanent markets open during the summer and year-round — so you can shop locally every season. Because there’s nothing better than crossing things off your to-do list AND supporting your fellow neighbours at the same time.
