“I primarily shoot nature and landscapes, but I’m always willing to point my lens at anything that captures my attention.
My love of photography has helped me appreciate our natural environments, and I’m frequently amazed at how lucky we are to live in a city that prioritizes natural spaces.
Spending time immersed in nature has become essential and never fails to rejuvenate me. I have the most supportive family encouraging my art, and are patient with me and my camera!”
“Photography is a major passion of mine, and I love the combination of taking pictures and exploring new areas. It’s just so fun to be outside and find natural beauty in the every day.
I frequently visit North Glenmore Park and Prince’s Island Park. But all of our parks are so beautiful in Calgary, it’s difficult to narrow it down!
I currently work as a full-time photographer, but I love to bake, dance and exercise when I’m not out and about taking pictures of our city.”
“I’ve hidden behind a camera for longer than I can remember. Art has endless forms, and it’s difficult to describe what it means to me.
Coming from a creative, ‘do-it-yourself’ family, I’m primarily self-taught. My willingness to get dirty allows me to play and get the shots I want; whether in a sparkling clean room, or laying in mud.
Thank you from my black little heart for your support and patience while I slowly put my work out there. It’s taken me a long time to gather the courage to do so.”
“I’ve loved photography since I got my first digital camera back in the early 2000s. I filled the memory card regularly with photos of our farm, my family and the cats.
I didn’t pursue photography professionally, but I regularly photograph my adventures in the city, the mountains and around the world. Griffith Woods and Bowness Park might be my favorite nearby refuges.
Now I run a boutique marketing and copywriting agency, using words to fulfill my creative outlet. But I have no doubt I may venture down the professional photography route at some point in the future…”
“Photography is both a hobby and a passion of mine. I fell in love when I got my first camera while living in England and started photographing the beautiful, lush green English countryside landscapes.
Equally beautiful and lovely are the parks of Calgary. It’s hard to pick favourites but if pressed, I would choose Nose Hill Park, Bowmont Park, Bowness Park and North Glenmore Park.
I’m a scientist, photographer, husband and father of two awesome little boys. I was born in Mexico, and I love cycling, swimming, reading, photography and, of course, exploring the outdoors.”
“Photography has saved my life. I found it when I was at a crossroads and didn’t know what to do next. It led me to using my creativity and then signing up for a marketing and graphic design program.
After completing a photography certificate, I started taking basic photos, followed by portrait photography, before falling in love with landscapes and flowers. So naturally, my favourite places to visit in the summer are the Silver Springs Botanical Gardens and Prince’s Island Park.
We’re so lucky to live this close to incredible hiking trails and parks here and around the city!”
“My love of photography started when I moved to Calgary from New Brunswick back in 2010 to share my new life with family back home.
I Iove exploring all of our Calgary parks and the mountains too. Photographing and hiking allowed me to meet people, explore new places, and make Alberta my home.
I also love snowshoeing and running. In Calgary, you can find me exploring Carburn Park and Bowness Park.”
“Living in Calgary most of my life, I spend my days teaching culinary arts at a high school, enjoying all of our biking trails and photographing almost anything that catches my eye.
I enjoy capturing shots with reflective water, night-time images and macro photography.
I’ve come to believe that it’s not always the main subject that is interesting, but sometimes all the little crunchy bits around it.”
“I’m incredibly passionate about taking a “wholehearted” approach to food, fitness and lifestyle.
When I’m not cooking in the kitchen or working out, you can find me out with my camera, strapping on my skates for a pick-up hockey game or curled up with a good book.
My little family is made complete with my husband Willy, and our two cats, Lilly and Pippin.”
“I’m an amateur photographer originally from Scotland and currently based in Lower Mount Royal.
I’m self-taught with a background in architecture and urban planning, hence my passion for photographing buildings, places, spaces and the people who occupy them!
Some of my favorite Calgary parks include River Park, Rotary Park and Lindsay Park.”
“I work as an economist but my passion is photography. I shoot on a Canon 7D and Rebel.
I love nature photography the most because this passion enables me to escape the office and get outdoors. This is where I can seek adventure and be creative.
I’ve lived in Calgary since the late ’90s, and my favorite parks are North Glenmore Park and the Douglas Fir Trail.”
“I’m a Calgary based photographer and videographer who specializes in weddings, corporate videos and product photography.”
