Connecting You To The Local Community
It Takes A Village... So We Created One
What began as a solo venture to spend more time outdoors, turned into a growing community of people who craved more.
Because we heard the same frustrations and disbelief uttered over and over again…
- I can't find this anywhere…
- The information is so outdated…
- How have I never heard of this…
- They're not giving me a straight answer…
So instead of scouring the internet, reading outdated blogs, and deciphering vague social media descriptions…
We decided to make our city more accessible.
By not only sharing local Calgary parks, but best spots, activity ideas, hidden gems, wildlife education, local business recommendations, and so much more.
Now, Parks of Calgary spans 4 digital platforms with a growing community of 12,000+ members eager to connect, collaborate and spend time out of the house.
Because everyone deserves to stay in the loop.
Parks of Calgary is a community of co-creating outdoor adventurers who collectively connect Calgarians with the people, places and partners that make our city unique.

We value the people, places and partners that make this city great. Our community helps you disconnect to reconnect — with yourself, others and nature.
Wellness
We prioritize getting outside, moving our bodies and socializing with others because they’re essential for our holistic health, and we know our bodies, minds and souls crave it.
Curiosity
We’re not satisfied with “the status quo,” “good enough” or “the same ol’ thing.” We’re always eager to learn more, do more, help more, explore more.
Meet Kelsey Woods
Small Business Owner & Our Leading Adventurer
Hey there!
I’m the founder and outdoor enthusiast behind Parks of Calgary, and believe it or not, I actually started this community by accident.
I grew up in the outdoors — exploring the Alberta prairies, visiting the mountains and later jet-setting around the globe — but when I moved to Calgary in 2012, I rarely made time for city adventures.
Fast forward six years, and I wanted to spend time outdoors, but I…
- Only found golf courses, schools and sporting fields nearby
- Googled the few parks I knew, but the listings didn’t tell me much
- Tried to research, but everything was outdated, scattered & vague
The outdoors seemed inaccessible. And I felt like I was the only one.
So instead of giving up, I made it my personal mission to discover our Calgary parks and green spaces, which led me to connect with our local community.
It wasn’t long before I met countless other people (like you!) who had the same desire — to explore, connect and collaborate.
So pulling on my marketing knowledge (Did you know I also own a local copywriting and marketing agency, Content by Kelsey?)…
I started sharing my adventures on Instagram, which inspired other Calgarians to share theirs too. Before I knew it, Parks of Calgary was born.
This community’s continual insight, input and support has made Parks of Calgary what it is today.
I’m beyond grateful to lead our growing community, encouraging people to get outside, support our local businesses and explore this city we call home.
Because by sharing our personal experiences and city knowledge, together we can make the outdoors more accessible.
