Wanna find flowering crabapple trees in Calgary? Wanna find flowering crabapple trees in Calgary?

Look no further than Murdoch Park in Bridgeland.
But more importantly…

Have you ever wondered what type of crabapple trees we’re looking at?

We’ve got options — at least half a dozen pink-blossomed suspects 🔍

So when it came to ID’ing the stunners in Murdoch Park…

We ruled out the types that hate cold, the ones that are too white, and the ones that drop fruit like confetti.

That left us with 2 likely culprits:

🌸 Thunderchild – tall, dramatic, and hard to miss

🌸 Makamik – round, rosy, and extra photogenic

We can’t confirm without asking a true botanist… but we’ve narrowed it down to Calgary’s most cold-hardy show-offs.

Who can tell us?

A couple of our ambassadors have been LOVING their A couple of our ambassadors have been LOVING their visits to Haskayne Park lately — and it’s easy to see why!

Tucked away in Calgary’s northwest, Haskayne Park is a beautiful blend of rolling prairie, river views, and wide open skies.

You’ll find paved and gravel trails perfect for walking, biking, and running, along with picnic areas, benches, and a large pavilion pergola & patio equipped with tables, bike racks & gas firepits.

There’s even a seasonal cattle grazing area that keeps the park connected to its ranching roots, and the railway line adds extra character to the landscape.

The park’s trails link up with Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park — which is steps away from Haskayne, but you can make it a WAY longer trip if you want.

@Carrieonearth recently made the full bike ride and LOVED IT! She’s hoping to head back soon to go further! 🚴‍♀️

Springtime means baby season — and the goslings Springtime means baby season — and the goslings have arrived! 🐣

Did you know goslings can swim within 24 hours of hatching? Or that geese form “daycares” called crèches to protect their little ones?

These fluffy explorers grow fast, double their size in a week, and will learn the migration paths they’ll use for life — all before the end of summer.

Catch them waddling and swimming through Calgary’s parks this month 🌸🌿

(And remember — admire from a distance! Their parents are some of the fiercest protectors around.)
